Questions people ask before their first class
If yours isn't here, every program page links to a coordinator you can message directly.
General
How much do classes cost?+
Credit Genius uses a sliding scale: each class has a suggested price range, and you choose the number that fits your budget at checkout, no documentation required. There's no hidden fee on top of that and no product we expect you to buy afterward.
What if I can't afford even the lowest price on the scale?+
Email us before your class starts. We hold a small number of fully sponsored seats in every session for people who reach out, funded out of our consulting and business services revenue.
How is Credit Genius funded?+
Sliding-scale tuition covers part of our costs, and the rest comes from our consulting and business services work. We don't sell financial products or earn referral fees from lenders.
Do I need good credit, or any credit, to join a class?+
No. We work with people who have no credit file at all, damaged credit, or strong credit who want to plan ahead. There is no credit check to enroll.
Taking a class
How long does a typical course take?+
Most programs run four to eight weeks, meeting once a week for about ninety minutes. Credit Fundamentals is self-paced and can be finished in a single sitting.
Can I take a class online if there isn't a partner site near me?+
Yes. Every program is offered live online in addition to in-person sessions at our 38 partner locations across North America and the United Kingdom.
What do I need to bring to my first class?+
Just yourself. If you want to work with your real numbers, bring a recent pay stub or your most recent credit report, but it's optional — many people start with nothing and pull their report during the first session.
Credit & privacy
Will Credit Genius pull my credit report, and does it affect my score?+
One annual credit pull is included with your enrollment, done as a soft inquiry, which does not affect your score. We never run a hard inquiry without your separate, written consent.
Is this the same as a credit repair company?+
No. Credit repair companies charge ongoing fees, often a percentage of your debt, to dispute items on your behalf. We teach you to file your own disputes as part of class tuition, which you set yourself on a sliding scale, and we never take a cut of any debt or settlement.
Can I attend if English isn't my first language?+
Yes. Several of our partner sites offer classes in Spanish, and we can arrange an interpreter for other languages with two weeks' notice — just mention it when you enroll.
Are you affiliated with any other organization called Credit Genius?+
No. Credit Genius is an independent company. We're not affiliated with any other company, app, or platform that uses a similar name — contact us if you need to verify which one you're dealing with.
